Second visit: More eggs!

22nd April 2020

Today I went to the forest very early in the morning to check the nests, and to explore more the area. Unfortunately, it has been severely logged over the last few days, so I was quite concerned that the birds might have been disturbed by the logging.

What a beautiful surprise! More eggs in the nests: the Blackbird laid two more and the Song thrush laid three more. Usually Blackbirds lay from 3 up to 5 eggs, and Song thrushes lay from 4 up to 5 eggs - so let’s cross our fingers!

Soon after, I discovered another Song thrush nest while exploring the area. This has no eggs laid and it is higher up in the tree but still I would love to monitor it as well and observe their whole reproductive success and compare it with the couple ‘number one’, described above.
