Why do snails and slugs move slowly? How many tentacles do they have and what is their function? What do they eat? Where do they live? We will explore some facts and curiosities, and tips on how to find them. We will have land snails as *live special guests*, and together we will learn how to observe them in nature and how to create the best habitat in a terrarium at home or school for their study. You will be surprised about how many things we can learn from snails and slugs biology and behavior!
The workshop is suitable for children age 4 to 10. It will be via Zoom and will last 45 minutes. Please book here and I will contact you for the access details to the meeting and free printables.
I will show you step-by-step what is a suitable habitat for snails and how to set it up in a terrarium. If you are interested to have one at home or school for their study, we can set it up together! If so, these are the materials you need to have available:
Plastic box with holes
(or commercial terrarium)
Cap of a jar with water
Fresh leaves (e.g. dandelion, lettuce, etc)
Stones that fit into the box, of various size
Bark and/or twigs
Language: English
